Kerala Police has issued a fresh advisory alerting citizens to a new type of online scam targeting users under the guise of online gaming. Fraudsters are using WhatsApp groups to allure victims into participating in online games, before sending them a link to a gaming website.
On clicking the link, users are presented with a “gift box” offering items such as golden rings and diamond necklaces at discounted prices. Once the victim makes a payment for these items, the scammers convince them to sell these products for a higher price on the same platform.

The fraudsters also use fabricated profit calculations to lure users into purchasing expensive products, often worth lakhs.
