AMD’s new Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D 3D V-Cache gaming CPUs now up for grabs starting at $599

AMD’s Ryzen 9000 series desktop CPU lineup that debuted last year in August is now getting some new models. The brand’s new gaming-centric Ryzen 9 9900X3D and Ryzen 9 9950X3D desktop processors are now available to purchase. These new processors are now hitting the scene as high-end models in the brand’s 9000 series, and they’re great for those looking to pick up some high-end chips for their gaming rigs. You are looking at two new models today — the 16-core Ryzen 9 9950X3D and the 12-core Ryzen 9 9900X, and they both feature the brand’s 3D V-Cache. Head below for more details on the pricing, availability, and compatibility details.

AMD’s new Ryzen 9 9900X3D and 9950X3D processors are now available

Both the new chips belong to the brand’s Ryzen 9000 series, meaning they are based on the Zen 5 architecture. The Ryzen 9 9900X3D, as the name implies, is configured similarly to the Ryzen 9 9900X, whereas the Ryzen 9 9950X3D is largely the same as the Ryzen 9 9950X. The only difference here is that they both come with a 3D V-Cache boosted CCD, offering up to 144MB of total cache.

The AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D will cost you $599 shipped whereas the Ryzen 9 9950X3D is priced at $699 shipped. The addition of 2nd-gen 3D V-cache has added a sizable amount to the overall price as the regular Ryzen 9 9900X and Ryzen 9 9950X without the 3D V-cache are currently going for $378.65 and $544.74 shipped, respectively. Here’s what the lineup looks like right now:

Today’s new release is headlined by the Ryzen 9 9950X3D which is compatible with the existing AM5 motherboards. You should be able to install these on your ex

isting AM5 boards and they’ll run just fine after a quick BIOS update. That saves you the hassle of picking up new supporting hardware if you’re upgrading from, say, Ryzen 7 7800X3D. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D comes with 16 cores and 32 threads, and it has two CCDs in a single IO die. It features a maximum boost clock of up to 5.7 GHz, and it’s an unlocked chip with a 170W TDP package.

The Ryzen 9 9900X3D, on the other hand, has 12 cores and 24 threads, and it has a total cache of up to 140MB. It features a maximum boost clock of up to 5.5 GHz and it has the same 120W TDP package as the non-X3D version. AMD is delivering good value for your money here by maintaining the same MSRPs as the last-gen Zen 4 X3D offerings. It’ll be interesting to see how these stack up against Intel’s newer offerings for gamers, but AMD appears to have a good spot on the market with these prices.
